Have you ever kept too many things, things with memories attached?
I used to. I grew up around hoarders. Now I tend to get rid of things, sometimes too quickly. Basic rule of thumb: if I haven’t used it in the last 3 years, I find a home for it or throw it away. Otherwise you acquire too much baggage, inside and out.
Or as I do, hide them away… I have a USB in a drawer with every picture, every video, and every electronic conversation from a previous relationship. As it gets pushed back in the drawer with new things, new memories, it gets pushed more and more out of my mind and out of my life.
And remembering is always much easier than forgetting.
I managed to sell my stuff online or just giving it away to charity or pantries. I make sure I erase the things that are causing me harm in a negative way. It’s impossible to look at the object in a positive way. I find it also hard to give away the things that are very positive to me but I don’t use them as often. So it depends on a person.

‘And as you walk away from here, I fill my glass up to the top.
I lift it and I drink you down to size…
The sea so blue, the sand so white.
Your name will be
Lost in the high, high tide…’
While I prefer to keep anything that I might find possibly useful, I’ve no problem shedding things I consider useless or negative. Like Alicia said, it depends on the person and the events, both positive and negative.
