St. Valentine is not real. MY favourite Valentine story is: It's a celebration that is based on the roman Lupercalias. Women were hit with thongs from sacrificed goats by naked young man. It was supposed to make it easier giving birth to a child. Valentine's day was stolen by the church. Yay. The whole Valentine issue makes me bemoan the lack of a word like "Kitsch" in the english language. Or at least bemoan the lack of people who use it.

'She cries out from her conscience, an everlasting scream!
The weekend revolution, the winner by a dream...
She drives herself on edges, and 'round the bend as well...
But if lunacy's a factor, she'll make it to the other side of hell!'

Most improbably. Different cultures, languages, beliefs...and nearly 20 years age difference. Everyone, on both sides, said it would never work. It has, for nearly 30 years. We are deeply happy. The differences persist and perhaps that is why we are so happy--we each bring the other new things. Our families still dislike the "outsider" that each one of us married...so we have moved on. The guillotine didn't cut off our heads, it just cut us off from them.

We continue to grow together. Sometimes pruning is necessary.

I fell in love with the boy that everyone said would marry another girl. But guess what? It turns out, he loves me too.

Yes. Very much, and very improbably -- or perhaps so probably that it seemed too obvious to be true.

The Secret Vespers guillotine appears to be of the human size range.
