Falling Star

It’s the longest night of the year where I live in the northern hemisphere. Do you ever go out to watch meteor showers, stare at the sky until you see a streak? Have you ever cast a wish, then realized you could make it come true?

Transcriptorial: she's gone for good, / she's gone to catch her falling star

This is beautiful; the colours are so vibrant!

I’ve personally always lived in a bit of a “dream world”, if you will. Sometimes the illusory can paint a much more beautiful picture than the oft harsh realities of life. I’ve always preferred indulgence to asceticism, at the very least indulging into my imagination whenever possible. :)

I think I can relate to a falling star…never content to just stay in one place, always questioning everything. Perhaps that’s why I have always loved lying out under the stars watching for one to wish on. It’s a sort of moment of “mysticism” and sentiment, a sort of union with nature. I’ve always loved free spirits the best. ;)

Free whiskey?

One thing I miss living in big cities is the night sky. The last meteor shower, I barely saw a thing.

it’s been awhile since the last time i left everything… everyone i know to follow my star. sometimes i think i’ve caught my star, and sometimes i think it’s still falling, telling me it’s time to go chasing it again.

in my lifetime, i’ve seen just two falling stars.

sometimes i think my wishes lie hidden behind all of the stars i’m too unlucky to witness dissolve.

Pick a good clear night during a meteor shower, and get outside the city, and you can add a few falling stars to your lifetime count.

I know someone with an amazing collection of meteorites.

I keep looking at this and love it more everytime.

I used to be able to watch meteor showers in my backyard in Vermont and wasn’t able to see anything over the light pollution in Texas once I moved here. I had to drive about 30 mins away from the city, when I was already living on the outskirts!

What an amazing feeling to make a wish and realize you can make it come true….

I wrote a piece about wishing fountains once.

I was trying to find something titled ‘Catch Me if I Fall’ but I guess I’ll have to settle for Funkadelic’s ‘Shooting Star’…
