'Welcome my friends, to the Show that never ends!
We're so glad you could attend, come inside, come inside...

'There behind the glass stands a real blade of grass...
Be careful as you pass, move along, move along...'

99% of the time the anticipation vastly outweighs the resolution.

That said...

Fill my heart with love or break it apart painfully, it'll only get bigger every time. I'll only learn to love more honestly, more fully, more graciously, more recklessly.

Thus, I am coming to grips with being a hopeless romantic.

I try to never stare at anyone, and in the moment I realise what I'm doing, I make myself stop.
As someone who is often stared at, as far as I can tell at least, I find it a very offense thing I overreact to heavily.
I might just be paranoid, though.

The anticipation.
Because in those few moments, that person can be everything you'd want them to be. They are a dream.
And those are too hard for reality to live up to.
Or maybe I've just been staring at the wrong people.
It's impolite to anyway, isn't it? :)

There are some people I hope never to actually meet, because a real person could never live up to the fantasy I've created around them...

You mention eye contact. One of my Lovesick episodes starts with the premise of eye contact and goes a little crazy from there:

I often find myself lost in staring at people, whether I realize I am or not. There are, at times, those people I only know from mutual eye contact.

We rarely meet.

But there's usually comfort in the mystery and the promise of resolution one day.
