So afraid of permanence, because they're "missing something" somewhere else. In 20 years or so they will find all those "strings" were what could have kept their lives from unravelling. Whose team will they play on when they can't run fast anymore and no one chooses them? So many of my friends cut all ties after about 3 years of friendship/job/relationship/etc. They flee forward, on to the next thing.
