Invitations Versus Dares

You might give your keys to one person but hope a certain other person has a j-hook. Do you articulate everything you want, or do you leave it to others to be daring with you? Which is more exciting?

Some doors I leave unlocked just to see who will wander in. But those are usually doors to very small rooms.

I wish people would do what I dont say. No one cares enough to, however.

I am a believer that if you don’t let anyone know what you want then you cannot complain when you do not receive it. I have yet to meet a truly accurate human empath, let alone telepath.

Waiting around for others to figure out the oh-so-compelling-mystery-of-me is far more tedious than being forthright.

In the immortal words of Madonna’s song Hung Up:

Time goes by so slowly for those who wait
No time to hesitate
Those who run seem to have all the fun

I played that album over and over again when it came out.

‘Open the door and look inside,
It’s as you left it, but not quite right.
The fading scent says something’s wrong.
Someone has been here, someone has gone…’
(Comsat Angels)

Or perhaps it’s more like Sting’s ‘Fortress Heart’?
