I am cold, which is why I burn things during the night, which is why I have a missing piece, which is why I am cold.

This pain, this hole in my chest; I burn it, to feel something.
Because it was broken, I couldn’t feel.

And I can only feel it when it doesn’t matter.

Not so techie-geeky bout this but… the e-add’s welcome.

Never really wanted to join the circus, don’t wanna pretend.

but…

Lemme just ask,

If I join, without pretending, can I later run away?

Can I have fun? (or to rule out word nuances… can I be happy?)

I know exactly what it feels like to want to run away for real. It’s easier to do than most suspect, but not always the wisest move.

What is beautiful to me about a person I have known who has suffered intensely is not his suffering (his brokenness) per se, but the way it refined and deepened his engagement with reality. He lives with strong love and great integrity because he cannot take either for granted.

We’ll have to run away first, and stay away. Then the circus will come for us, and we’ll have our auditions ready. You will sing and I’ll wax poetic (to answer your other question) and the rest will be history!

So you burn things you don’t understand?

You’ve known it’s the missing link right at the onset but you don’t understand it, so you burn it?

Or you’ve burned it not knowing at that time that it is the missing link?
