That’s a really sweet cat stroking you have posted, too.

Patience and unconditional love are key…. I’ve learned this from animals, and I think my parents, who also love animals learned the same thing. That’s how they dealt with me in my late teens :)

Five points for the cat. Another five points for a cat whose facial marking between her or his eyes looks like a (USA style) vulgar salute.

Funny - this was done on the birthday of my best friend who always resisted capture, and never strayed :) I always steal love from my cats.

My dog acts like a cat. When she’s on a leash, she’s all nice and very friendly, and almost never tugs on it. If I let it go, I may end up chasing her all day.

Whatever it is, no time of captivity can remove it I think.

Don’t try to force things.
If they’re meant to happen, they will.
Don’t try to keep people or friends.
If they want to stay, they will, but no one likes to be smothered.

heard a song today that reminded me of this… “I’m not unfaithful but I’ll stray/when I get a little scared…” (tegan & sara)

I have learned from cats that the more you try to cling to someone you love, the harder they will struggle to get away. And if you try to force them to stay, you will end up scratched and bleeding, emotionally and sometimes physically.

However, if you let them go when they want to, they will feel safe to return to you. Someday you will look up and there they will be, not on your lap, but sitting close enough to reach out to.

I lost a beloved friend before I learned this. Sorry, Heather.
