Needfulness

What is so great about need that makes it need? It is impossible to say sometimes which one needs the other more, the addict or the addiction, or which needed the other first.

Transcriptorial: She always needed to need / you more.

I’ve always thought of need as something based on dependency. We need food because we depend on it to sustain us. We need companionship because we depend on it to bring us personal warmth. We need drugs or alcohol because we depend on them to deliver us from the realities of our lives; to bring us unwarranted happiness and contentment.

I needed it, so I knew that something could make me feel alive.
